Medication costs are separate and may vary by pharmacy, insurance, and prescription. Patients can use insurance for many prescriptions filled at the pharmacy. Prescriptions are typically written for up to 6 months when medically appropriate, though your dermatologist may choose a shorter or longer length. A paid follow-up visit is required at least every 6 months for ongoing prescription treatment.

Why do refills require a visit?
Medical review is still required for dermatology prescriptions, even if they're just being refilled. The DocBright check-in is short and doesn't require any video calls. Your dermatologist reviews your progress and history before renewing.
How long can my prescription be written for?
Prescriptions are typically written for up to 6 months when medically appropriate, though your dermatologist may choose a shorter or longer length. A paid follow-up visit is required at least every 6 months to continue treatment.
Which prescriptions can you refill?
Most ongoing dermatology prescriptions, including tretinoin and other retinoids, finasteride, oral and topical minoxidil, spironolactone, and doxycycline. Isotretinoin (Accutane) can't be prescribed through DocBright.
Do I need my original prescription?
It helps to send a photo of your current prescription label or bottle so your dermatologist can see the exact medication and strength. They'll review your history and current photos before renewing.
Can my dermatologist change my dose or strength?
Yes, when appropriate. If you're having side effects or not seeing results, mention it in your check-in. Your dermatologist may adjust the dose, strength, or formula.
